AIR
We don’t think much about the
air, until we don’t have any way of getting it. Just like the Holy Spirit, we
so quickly take for granted the gift of every breath of air we bring into our
lungs. Air is invisible, just as the Holy Spirit is to us. It surrounds us and
keeps us alive, just a short time without it and we would surely die (John 14). This is just like the Holy
Spirit, he surrounds us and keeps us on track. To ignore the Holy Spirit, to
hold our breath out of pure defiance is the dumbest thing a human being can do.
It is to flirt with death just because we don’t want to clean our room. The
only time we do not like to keep the Holy Spirit in our thoughts is when we are
“practicing” holding our breath with the thought that one day we will, “break
free”. In this case it is to break free from life itself. For the true
believer, the Holy Spirit will be sticking around whether of not we like it. He
will be with us through everything, to help us direct that passion that burns
deep down inside of us. He is there, ready to guide us and protect us, we just
have to listen. Oh! the pain we cause ourselves when we strive to snuff out the
Holy Spirit in us just because He and I are in disagreement with each other
over what is best for myself. In the end we will yield to Him, so why waste the
time throwing a fit over a type of music, movie, or book and just listen to
what God says is best for ourselves spiritually (Romans 14).
